Into the Blue

I promised you I would try not to do this again
But here I am pondering the razor edge of a fresh set of knives
and the way it feels through my skin
and how I feel after
even just the shallowest lines.

It always comes to this doesn't it?
Here I am again numbed to the world
or things I know should matter
unable to give you what you deserve with any sincerity.

But I can break that monotony of unfeeling as easily as breaking skin
But I promised you I would try to control myself this time
and I don't know how else to come back to you
